The AAA Catalyst Fund enables us to regrant to high-impact projects and organisations working to reduce the suffering of farmed animals. These are independent organisations we've vetted and believe in.

By donating, you will:

  • Enable seed and growth funding for grassroots organisations

  • Help fund time-sensitive, high-impact opportunities

We typically regrant only to organisations that:

  • We have engaged in-depth for over several months or longer through our training or capacity building programmes.

  • Demonstrate strong potential for cost-effective, high-impact work for farmed animals in Africa.

Ways to donate

We aim to make donating as simple and accessible as possible, wherever you’re based.

If you’re able to, making fewer, slightly larger donations helps us reduce fees and plan our work more effectively. That said, every contribution matters, and we’re grateful for support at any level.

  • You can donate securely by debit or credit card from anywhere in the world. Card payments are available via PayPal or Giving What We Can.

    Card payments work internationally. Fees vary slightly by provider.

  • Donations to AAA coming from the US are tax-deductible via bank transfer as we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit with EIN 93-1669847.

    Donations from other countries are accepted using bank transfer but the donation will not be tax-deductible.

    Bank transfers are a good option for larger or bundled donations, as they help reduce processing fees.

  • We retain full discretion over how funds in the AAA Catalyst Fund are allocated. Our grantmaking process involves:

    • A rigorous evaluation system to score proposals across criteria such as cost-effectiveness, team competence, and strategic fit

    • In-depth engagement with potential grantees over several months

    Our aim is for donations to go to impactful, well-vetted initiatives working to improve farmed animal welfare across Africa.

  • No, AAA does not offer fiscal sponsorship. Instead, we operate as a regrantor through our Catalyst Fund. We receive donations from supporters and then distribute those funds to independent organisations we’ve carefully vetted.

  • Africa is at a crucial turning point for animal welfare:

    • The human population is expected to nearly triple by 2100, accelerating demand for animal products.

    • Meat production in Africa has nearly doubled since 2000 and continues to rise.

    • Over 3.4 billion land-based farmed animals live in Africa (as of 2020), and the continent has the fastest projected growth in animal agriculture.

    • Despite this, only around USD 2 million was spent on farmed animal advocacy in Africa in 2022—less than 1% of global funding.

    Supporting animal advocacy in Africa now allows us to act before intensive farming systems become entrenched, and direct resources where they are most needed and neglected.

  • Absolutely. The security and confidentiality of your information is our highest priority. You can donate via a direct wire transfer, through Giving What We Can (country-dependent) or PayPal. We will not sell, trade or share your personal information with anyone else, nor send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations, and we will only share personal information if you have given us specific permission to do so.

  • Donations via US bank transfer are tax-deductible as we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Donations from the United States, United Kingdom, and several other countries are tax-deductible through Giving What We Can. Donations from other areas are accepted, but may not be tax-deductible at the moment.

  • A donation receipt will be sent to you at the email address you provide. Please keep a copy of your receipt for tax purposes. If you make a recurring donation, we will email you a receipt when your gift is processed.
