Animal organisations in Africa

This database lists animal advocacy organisations in Africa. To learn more about the organisations that we’re supporting as part of our programme, see here.

If you are interested in donating to any of the following organisations, we may be able to facilitate your contribution by regranting or providing advice - please reach out to us for more information about the organisations and/or the donation process e.g. gift tax deductions.

  • Organisations in this database have not been thoroughly vetted and we are not able to vouch for the quality of their work. However, we may be able to provide more information about organisations that we have worked with.

  • For donors who are interested in donating significant amounts (>$1,000) to any given organisation, we recommend that they reach out to us for information.

We’d love to hear if you find this database useful and make any connections by using it! Send us a quick message.

How to read the database

  • Please note that information is not complete yet for every organisation in the database. We are continually collecting information and will update the database periodically, as we gain new information. If you have information that can help us make this database better, you can suggest an additional entry via this form or suggest a correction of an existing entry via this one.

  • The database not only contains African organisations, but also international/global organisations that are active in Africa (e.g., ProVeg International).

  • For each organisation, we provide three types of information (ordered from left to right):

  1. Contact details and online channels

  2. The countries and areas of work that they are active in

  3. Whether the organisation is inactive or offline (which means that detailed online information is not available)

  • At the end of each of the first two sections mentioned above (from left to right), we provide an indication of how complete the information for the respective organisation is at the moment – “Data completeness (1)” for contact details and online channels and “Data completeness (2)” for the countries and areas of work. “Detailed” means that we have checked the information for this organisation in depth and it should be quite accurate, while “Basic” means that we have only checked the information on a high level and that it should be taken with caution.

  • Generally, an empty value for a certain cell means that we have not checked and entered the info required for this cell in detail yet. A "-" means that we have checked the info for this column for this org in detail and none of the options apply. A "?" also means that we have checked the info, but that we did not find conclusive info and are unsure what the cell should indicate.

  • More detailed explanation can also be found for some columns via the info buttons in the column headers.
