Training Advocates

Recruiting talent and providing training at the top or middle of the talent funnel - ideally with the purpose of helping individuals start projects to prevent further industrialisation of animal agriculture, but otherwise for people to go on and work in effective animal advocacy .

Through readings, group discussions and mentorship, you will learn the fundamentals of running or working at an impactful animal advocacy organisation. We will cover topics ranging from fundamental communications and task-management to decision-making tools, problem-solving and effective altruism principles.

At the end of the program, you will receive a certificate of completion. After the training program, we will continue to financially and logistically support the most promising advocates in implementing projects to prevent the rise of industrial animal agriculture or provide further professional development to enable individuals to do effective work in animal advocacy and become allies of the broader animal movement.

What to expect from our programme

  • This training programme will run for 8 weeks. Each week consists of a specific learning objective centred around a theme (e.g. communications or decision-making)

  • We will provide you with resources, such as readings and video lectures to work through, and occasional group sessions for you to share what you have learned. You will also apply what you have learned through assessments and project-based learning

  • While this is a part-time commitment, we do expect you to commit about 10 hours per week to the program

What you will get out of it

  • Ongoing mentorship after the program

  • Network with professionals and other advocates during and after the program

  • Monthly stipends

  • Seed funding of $7-10K to start a new project

  • Certification of completion

Who can apply?

  • Individuals who are interested in having a career in animal advocacy in Africa.

  • Individuals who are interested in starting new animal advocacy charities. In most cases this is not someone leading an existing organisation but organisational staff or leaders are welcome to apply if they think they could have more impact working elsewhere or starting a new project.

  • Individuals based in or interested in relocating to African countries.

What else should I take note of?

Our approach is fairly experimental and flexible - we are trying out different formats and structure of running meetings and training sessions to find the best ones that suit individuals.
